I had a wonderful time visiting with art students today at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, just across the beautiful Saint Croix River. Thank you to the accomplished artist and teacher Tracy Krumm for inviting me, and to all of you for sharing your class time, thoughts and questions with me. It was a pleasure to share my evolving work with you, and I loved seeing some of the things you're working on. Keep going strong in studio! I hope you'll reach out to show me how some of your creations turn out.
It's a winter of trekking art across the fabulous and frozen north. This week I am off to Fargo, North Dakota to install my work at Plains Art Museum. (Can I geek out a little bit about that? It's an excellent museum.) I'll be showing work along with other exciting upper midwest artists in Art on the Plains XII, which will run roughly February through late May. Big thanks to Aaron Spangler for selecting my work, and to Mark Ryan and team at Plains Art Museum for being so great to work with.
I am thrilled to bring a solo exhibition to Hutchinson Center for the Arts in Hutchinson, about an hour west of Minneapolis. This is such a cool venue for my newest work, much of which is fresh from my studio and hasn't been seen anywhere yet after a productive Jerome Fellowship year. Hutchinson is a charming and highly wander-able town, and if you're looking for a great half-day excursion from the Twin Cities, this is it! The show, Parts Unknown, runs through January 7th. You're invited to a public reception tonight (details below). The roads are clear, and I can't wait.
In January I received a fellowship through the Jerome Foundation in partnership with Textile Center to create new installation works. You Know Who You Are, on view starting September 3rd at Textile Center's Joan Mondale Gallery, includes part of this work alongside that of my talented fellow recipients. Some of my work for this project literally doesn’t fit in the gallery, so I’m turning my nearby studio into a gallery annex with viewing hours during the show’s run. If you’re nearby, you’re invited to one or all of the events below. I hope to see you!
